Black brings a lot of drama to a space, and when used successfully it is crisp, striking, and elegant. When it comes to decorating, most of us tend to shy away from using this colour, as it absorbs, rather than reflects light. When using a large amount of the hue, consider a matte finish and balance it with plenty of light — preferably of the natural variety.

This kitchen’s anchor points are the matte black and walnut custom range hood, and leather clad, cross stitched island lights. Little ornamentation is required when colour provides the drama. The resulting kitchen is both open and balanced.
Every member of the team showed the same attention to detail and commitment to high quality workmanship, going above and beyond to meet their own exacting standards.We were tremendously impressed that despite the many components involved, the reno was completed on time and on budget. Our only regret? That it’s over and we don’t get to work with these exceptional people any longer. Until we start on the bathrooms…
